Bovec is located in the north-western part of Slovenia, in the upper Soča Valley, in Julian Alps, it is mainly a wonderful and a very popular winter ski resort which takes its name from the Kanin Massif connected to the italian Sella Nevea; the mountain is visible from Udine, as last massif of the italian Julian Alps, it is the boundary mark between the Province of Udine and the slovenian area of Bovec.
Kanin is the most famous and beautiful slovenian ski resort, 2200 meters high including several accommodation and entertainment places of various kinds. All skiers will find here a real piece of heaven; the Center can offer any kind of equipment of last generation such as cableways, chairlifts, moreover ski slopes and runs for exciting itineraries at an altitude of more than 2000 meters. Thanks to the perfect combination between climate and altitude the ski season starts in December and lasts through May; as one of the snowiest territories of the Alps, it is not unusual that over these months the snowfalls are always heavy and very frequent, furthermore the very favourable weather prevents ski slopes and runs from becoming frozen and the various activities from being abruptly interrupted. The area is a wonderful destination for winter tourism in Europe, but it also offers many other opportunities in the rest of the year, especially for those who enjoy pure relaxation or, on the other hand, love to dive into adventure...we have only to choose! Kanin is the ideal place for nature lovers, its trails are perfect for long walks, energetic hikings or bike rides, even the laziest people will be so fascinated that with pleasure will play golf or fish while the bravest ones can enjoy exciting sports such as mountain climbing, paragliding, parachuting and so on...but not only that! We can enjoy the tranquillity, fresh air and mountain scenary and at the same time have ample opportunities for exciting and thrilling water activities, such as canoeing, kayaking, rafting especially here along the Soča River.
